Local cemeteries are feeling the effects of the down economy, adding more options for cremation and working with residents struggling to afford costs associated with burial. The cemeteries heavily depend on the sales of plots to fund maintenance and operations.

The bodies of a man and woman found shot to death in the parking lot of Jellybean Junction daycare facility in Fairfield had gunshot wounds to the head. The bodies were discovered by a lawncare service employee in a Jeep Cherokee at Mack and Winton Roads around 9:15 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26 -- three hours after the daycare center opened.
