Severe storm strikes Butler County
Residents at home, work and on the road deal with the after-effects of a storm that knocked out power to 90 percent of Hamilton on Friday, June 26, 2009. Damage was severe in several parts of Butler County with flooding, downed trees and lightning strikes.

Long lines for free H1N1 shots
Hundreds of people turned out for the first day of public H1N1 flu shots at the Butler County Fairgrounds, Friday, Oct. 23, 2009. The overwhelming response forced officials to limit vaccinations to only those already in line just before 11 a.m.

Nasal H1N1 vaccine administered
The Butler County Health Department is administering the first live, attenuated intranasal (LAIV) H1N1 vaccines, a nasal spray, to health care workers aged 49 and younger at Princeton Pike Church of God on Friday, Oct. 16. The department has received 8,300 doses and expects more to come in the next few weeks.

Fire rekindles at golf course clubhouse
Fire destroyed the clubhouse at Indian Ridge Golf Club early Monday morning, June 22 in Hanover Township. The fire rekindled Tuesday, June 23, drawing firefighters from area townships and Oxford.

Section 8 aid opened for 5,000
Butler County Metropolitan Housing Authority is distributing 5,000 applications for Section 8 vouchers for housing rent assistance on a first-come, first-serve basis on Saturday, October 3 at New Life Vineyard Church in Hamilton, for the first time in five years. Many people were in line the evening before and by 9:15 am on Saturday, 2,100 numbers had already been given out.

Watch out for this bug
The Ohio Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Agriculture and Ohio State University will begin a sight-survey this December in parts of Warren, Butler and Hamilton counties in an effort to detect the Asian Longhorned Beetle. The destructive bug was found in a Mason warehouse in June.

Seized cars to be auctioned
The Butler County Sheriff's Office will be auctioning off several cars seized by drug officers. The cars were on display Tuesday June 30, 2009, during a press conference at the Butler County Engineer's office.
